Sad News on Tuesday....
Kathy had an MRI earlier this week and they found what appears to be a tumor on the right side of her head.
Kathy, Julie, Randi and Lorelei are on their way to Shands today, Thursday, May 27. She is going in today to be examined by a neurosurgeon and do pre op.
She will be scheduled for a biopsy or possible craniotomy for Friday.
Kathy and Julie appreciate everyone's concern and are most appreciative of your offers of help and concern.
They have asked though, that most of us refrain from calling them directly right now.

Kathy spoke with the neurosurgeon a little while ago. As I understand it, he said it looks like a stage three cancer. Kathy told me the name but I didn't get it. She is still there and waiting to have her MRI.
ReplyDeleteThe craniotomy is out. Tomorrow will just be the biopsy.
I will try and make sure everyone knows of the kind thoughts and comments that you are sending their way.
The plan is to go to Lorelei's opening tonight between 5-7 at the Thomas Center if Kathy isn't too tired.

ReplyDeleteDr. Canwell's circle of friends in Gainesville may not be aware that Kathy is the energy and intellect behind saving many significant natural areas in Putnam County. Projects that Kathy has proposed and is negotiating on total thousands of acres of beautiful sandhills, lakes, wetlands, and cultural sites. It's altogether fitting and proper that whatever this ailment is should take a break so that Kathy can finish this important expression of love for Mother Earth and all of us.

ReplyDeleteAs of this morning Kathys latest contribution to the greening of Fla and the environmental welfare of Gainesvilles citizens has taken a sizemic leap - Gainesvilles Biomass was approved by the PSC.
Few people realize that this is The SINGULAR large scale project of clean renewable energy in the entire state of Fla- that is not nuclear.
Kathy has had a very precise, clear eyed grasp
of the big picture.
Thank you Kathy, your selflessness, enthusiasm and dedication have been much appreciated and admired.

Good night all. I just printed out all of your comments and took them to Kathy so she could read them before she goes to the hospital. She looked good. Her sister Sue is here now. Mimi had just given her a massage and Carol was running around taking care of things.
