  6. Oh dear, our wonderful physician and environmental activist is on the wane. We are shocked and saddened. Yet, we so admire how you have chosen to deal with the news. You serve as a role model in this, as in so many other ways. We're glad you have a special and peaceful place in which to retire and be with loved ones. Please know we'll keep you in our thoughts and memory. Love, Marjorie and Dorie

  7. Aunt Kathy- words cannot express how I'm feeling today. So, let me share one of my fond memories of you. Zack was probably less than 2 months old and we were on a road trip when I came down with an *intense* intestinal problem. I was petrified of passing it on to Zack, and even more scared to take Pepto-Bismol for fear of poisoning the kid. You probably had to keep from laughing as you very gently told me that it wouldn't hurt him if I took it. You have been such a wonderful influence in my life as well as that of the boys. They have looked forward to your Christmas gifts with such excitement because you always sent *just* the right thing (I thought I might have to hurt you the year you sent the motion activated singing mice wreath.) I am so happy to see your wonderful circle of friends/family come together to celebrate your life and help you spend your remaining days as you would like. Please know that you have love coming from us as well.

    love you,
    Rebecca

  8. August will be my 15th year practicing in Gainesville. I had the amazing good fortune as being the physician selected to take over Kathy's practice when she "retired". As everyone knows, she was more busy and active in the last 15 years than ever. She blessed me tremendously in passing me the torch. I am enormously grateful and send my profound prayers. To Julie, my wonderful friend, dentist and phobia killer, I pray for you, too, sister. Let me know how I can help you.

  10. Kathy and Julie -

Although we haven't spent a lot of time together, I have always enjoyed the times when our lives have intersected and admired the way each of you does her life and the life you have together. And I certainly respect the path you've chosen for closing this chapter of life and relationship. Thanks for all you've done and for what you've meant to me as a friend and as an example of selfless giving.

I know that there is little we can do, but if you need someone just to be present or to do errands or ..... I'm available. Otherwise, I want to leave the time to you two. Love to both of you on your joint and separate journeys.
